THE CHARNEY LEGACY
Leon Charney was an American attorney, businessman, author, philanthropist, foreign policy specialist, political commentator, media personality, and cantor. Charney played an important role as an unofficial adviser to President Carter and is notably known for his behind-the-scenes role in the Camp David Accords, which led to the comprehensive peace between Israel and Egypt in 1979. He also served as Chairman of the Board of the University of Haifa.
Spearheaded by Tzili Charney, the Charney Forum for New Diplomacy builds on the diplomacy work that played a significant role in Leon Charney’s life. Ms. Charney devotes great effort to improve the fields of education, conflict resolution, and peace. Her vision is to deliver the message of New Diplomacy to institutions, governments, and organizations worldwide. Ms. Charney’s motto is: “the only permanent element in all of our lives is change.”
